Year 7 pupils have a grounding in the use of drawing and painting materials, the introduction of colour theory, and the concepts of line, tone, form, shape and basic composition. They experience in some of these areas of study: printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture.

A more advanced look at the themes is introduced in Year 8 with a greater awareness of personal development using the work of artists relevant to the given project.

Year 9 sees the culmination of three year’s work and the completion of their sketchbook. During Year 9, pupils can use a greater sense of expression through reaction to the set aims and ideas engendered by the department theme.
